European vs. American leadership
• European companies work more decentralized, which gives leaders free room to operate
• US organisations focus their activity on their large domestic market, resulting in few managers having international experience
European leadership is better than American. That bold statement is made by Professor Burkhard Schwenker who recently came out with the book Europa führt (in English: Europe leads).
Mr Schwenkers book builds on a survey conducted between 1998 -2008 where 3,000 of the biggest companies in the world were measured. It showed that, during the ten year period, European companies grew quicker than their American and Japanese counterparts. Simultaneously, profits of European organisations grew more rapidly, including better sales results outside the continent than their competitors in USA and Japan.
